Hi friends! My name is Allison Spann and I am a pre-kindergarten teacher in Chicago Public Schools. I graduated from Georgia State University in winter of 2018 with a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Human Growth and Development. During the last two years of my undergrad experience, I worked as a full time classroom assistant at Shallowford Presbyterian School. In spring of 2019, I became a Teach For America Corps member and was placed in the Chicago Northwest Indiana region. During my time in Chicago, I will also be completing a Masters of Arts Teaching Early Childhood Education.
I am excited to work with VolunTeach as an early childhood tutor. I am able to offer assistance with all educational content for age three – second grade. Highlights of my services include, phonics and phonemic awareness workshops, emergent reading and writing skills, social emotional development, self regulation tools, and hand writing.
Educational equity is extremely important to me, and one step in bridging the divide is bringing the tools and resources needed to students to meet their learning needs. DonorsChoose is a nonprofit organization that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classrooms. The DonorsChoose mission is to make it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need, moving us closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences they need for a great education. https://www.donorschoose.org/
